OUR CLASSES

LEVEL 1 SESSIONS

New to CrossFit?  Been away for awhile? The Level 1 sessions are the place to begin your CrossFit journey.DSC_6091

These are private training sessions in which you are working one on one with your coach.  In these sessions you will learn how to perform the foundational CrossFit movements safely and successfully.  You will learn more about the CrossFit philosophy, how to approach your training, and how to modify a workout or movement.

FOR NEW MEMBERS, ATTENDANCE TO 3 LEVEL 1 SESSIONS IS REQUIRED BEFORE JOINING THE CROSSFIT AND BARBELL CLASSES.

Some athletes may want to attend more Level 1 sessions  and some athletes may actually need to spend a little more time in Level 1 before moving on.  Many of our experienced athletes still routinely schedule a Level 1 session to further refine their skills.

The foundational movements are: Squat, Front Squat, Overhead Squat, Shoulder Press, Push Press, Push Jerk, Deadlift, Sumo Deadlift High Pull, Medicine Ball Clean.  Some of these may sound familiar and some may sound strange.  The good news is they are all movements your body was designed to perform and we spend a considerable amount of time perfecting them in order to execute and build off them safely.  In addition to these movements we will cover basic gymnastics, kettlebells, and introduce you to the fundamental principles of the Olympic lifts.

The CrossFit High Five Level 1 sessions will also empower you with the tools and knowledge to be able to scale a workout or movement according to your needs.  Whether it’s using resistance bands to assist with pull ups, or simply less weight for a lift, our goal is to give you the confidence to perform your workout safely with the appropriate level of difficulty.

Each Level 1 class session will include a warm up and in depth review of the movements for that particular session.  Once you have an understanding of the mechanics and can perform them consistently, we will finish the session with a workout, putting into practice what you have just learned.  We will end the session with a cool down, answer any questions, and address any performance issues that may need extra attention.
